Starting lineups for the 2008 All-Star Game have been decided according to votes given by hockey fans around the world. The fans voted the starting lineup consisting of 1 goaltender, 2 defenseman, 1 left wing, 1 center and 1 right wing for both North America All-Stars and World All-Stars. 8-2-2008 NHL All-Star Skill Competitions
The annual All-Star event kicked off today with the skill competitions. Team North America and Team World competed in six different races and the fans got to see their stars shine.

Team World won the puck control relay with a team of Marian Gaborik, Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexander Ovechkin.

Marian Gaborik of Team World won the fastest skater competition, beating Rick Nash in the final.

Rob Blake of Team North America won the hardest shot competition with a result of 92 MPH, beating Mats Sundin in the final.

Rick Nash of Team North America won the accuracy shooting competition, beating Alexander Ovechkin in the final.

Martin Brodeur of Team North America won the goalie competition (pass&score), beating Miikka Kiprusoff in the final.

Team World won the breakaway relay with a team of Ilya Kovalchuk, Alexander Ovechkin and Marian Gaborik.

The yearly clash between Team North America and Team World will take place tomorrow.

9-2-2008 NHL All-Star Game
Team World has won the annual NHL All-Star game with a score of 13-9. Game MVP was Marian Gaborik.

A native of Slovakia, Marian Gaborik was originally drafted to the NHL by the Wild in the 1st round of the 2000 entry draft. He has appeared in 494 NHL games during his career, notching 217 goals and adding 224 assists along with 259 penalty minutes. The 25 year old right wing has played 57 games with the Predators this season, totalling 38+45=83 with 20 PIM.
